Welcome to PoundofCoffee.com!
Coffee from around the world, delivered to your door is also...
A great place to learn how to properly store coffee!
Here are a few tips on storing coffee:
Store your coffee in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. This is not necessarily the fridge or freezer. The kitchen counter sometimes is the easiest place, and if storing whole bean, a nice container full of fresh beans is a great decorating piece for any kitchen.
So why not the freezer? Well, the reason here is condensation. When pulling the coffee out of the freezer, the beans are immediately going to start to thaw. Very quickly, condensation will appear on the beans and they will begin to absorb the water, possibly altering the taste.
Of course, if you just find this to be the most convenient place to store your coffee, keep this in mind and quickly transport the beans you are going to use to the grinder or coffee maker right away, while putting the remainder of your coffee back into the freezer ASAP to avoid any unwanted condensation.
We did come across this nice, affordable (under $40) alternative to storing the freshest coffee. It is a vacuum sealed coffee container from the inovative group at Sharper Image
